Tenambit medical centre was established in the Tenambit shopping centre in 1971 by Dr Gruda with Dr O’Young purchasing the practice in 1981.
The practice then changed hands again with Dr Lex Doornbos purchasing in 1984 and moving the premises to 57 Maize Street.
The Practice relocated to the present site in 1989 with the expansion of the premises in 1995.
When Dr Doornbos retired in 2010, John and Dr Renee Bilkey purchased the practice and made necessary improvements.
Dr Renee Bilkey relocated to Tasmania and Dr Tracy Markham and her husband Brett purchased the practice in November 2021. Since purchasing the practice in 2021, Tracy and Brett have made many improvements and updates to the practice, including adding additional consulting spaces, creating and implementing new and improved polices and procedures and creating a safe environment for patients and staff.
Dr Tracy Markham, Dr Armi Aganan, Dr Nicole Payne and Dr Cameron Smith currently complete the tenant GPs practicing out of Tenambit Medical Centre.
We currently hold accreditation with AGPAL (Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited), recently passing with flying colours in 2024 and were nominated for Practice of the year in 2011-2012.
The practice has been accredited to supervise and train GP registrars since 1989 and host a number of 3rd & 5th year medical students each year as Tenambit Medical Centre is a proud teaching practice.
